Baby Bump Update...

I'm playing catch up with my Baby Bump Updates...
24 Weeks ~ Baby Nado Loves LA!  Seriously, whenever Randy Newman's "I Love LA" comes on after a Dodger victory, this little baby starts to dance in mommy's tummy.
24 weeks

25 weeks
Weighing in:  At 25 weeks, I'm feeling huge!  I've gained 17 pounds to date.  I'm still doing 3 mile runs (jogs) a couple times a week.  I've been able to wear some regular clothes still...the Target tank tops are my favorite!  In my 24 weeks picture I'm wearing Forever 21 regular shorts & in 25 weeks picture I'm wearing Gap maternity jeans.  A majority of my bottoms, aside from my skirts (with elastic waist) & workout shorts/capris, are now maternity.

Diet:  I often am asked if I'm still juicing & I am!  My daily diet is usually:  Oatmeal in the AM topped with chopped walnuts, blueberries & honey.  A small glass of watered down OJ & a small cup of coffee.  For Lunch the hubby usually makes me a big glass of yummy juice.  It varies from day to day with whatever we have in the fridge, but mostly consists of an apple, pear, carrots, spinach &/or kale & cucumber.  And for dinner I usually eat whatever there is or whatever I feel like eating.  It can be anything as simple as a bowl of beans with a romaine salad to a steak.  While I try to eat vegetarian, meat still sneaks in there every now and then :)

Till next time!

My Boys...

Yesterday was a bittersweet day for me.  My oldest son, J III, started 3rd grade.  Gio, the middle child, started Kindergarten.  And my baby, Luc, started Tiny Tots at the Y.  I had been looking forward to the day all 3 boys would be out of the house and when that day finally rolled around, I was sad.  But I was okay by the end of the day when all 3 had expressed that they all had fun & loved school!  (I hope that love will continue through out the school year! Haha!)

My Boys are growing up so fast!

Happy Weekend!

It's not even noon yet & I have already finished 5 loads of laundry!  I feel like there's not enough time in this weekend to get everything done that I need to get done before my boys start school on Tuesday!

On Thursday I hit 23 weeks of Pregnancy!  According to my "What to Expect, When Expecting" app the baby is estimated to be as big as an ear of corn, about 8.5 in. in length & 1.5 lbs. in weight.  So far I have gained 13 lbs.  I finally washed some maternity clothes today.  I'm honestly dreading the maternity clothes.  Fashion has changed so much in the past couple of years since I had my last baby & the clothes are just so cute now.  I'm still wearing my regular jeans & just manipulating them to fit with the belly band & sometimes with hair rubber bands!  Haha!
Happy Weekend!

Ha ha!  Yes it is true, I am pregnant with my fourth baby.  In case you don't know, I already have 3 boys...JIII 9 yrs. old, Gio 5 yrs. old & Luc 3 yrs. old (almost 4 in Oct.).   It was a huge & complete surprise as I was in full training mode for my 1st half marathon, I had been eating strictly vegetarian & on a mission to do it for a full year.  I had lost 15 lbs. & was feeling like a sexy little thing...everything was going perfect.  But for some reason in April I had this weird feeling & took a pregnancy test (I wasn't even late!).  It came out positive.  I couldn't believe it & was in total shock.  I thought to myself "No, this can't be.  I'm suppose to start in a couple of days anyways, I'll just wait till then to take another test".  Nope, I couldn't wait.  I went out that same night to the Dollar Store (Yes, the Dollar Store), bought 2 more test went straight home & took them.  Well it didn't even take 1 minute for both of them to turn out positive.  I knew right then in there it was official, I WAS PREGNANT!  Of course I had my selfish melt down & started to cry.  How could this be?  I was to run my first half marathon & eventually a full marathon later in the year, my 30th birthday in October was ruined!  After awhile my husband was there to console me.  I quickly snapped out of it when I realized he was so calm & cool about everything...I then started to realize this new baby is a blessing and there was a reason the Lord has blessed us with another beautiful gift.  The Hubby & I don't care if its another boy or if its a girl we are just praying for an easy pregnancy, easy & fast labor & of course a healthy baby.  We also decided right away that we didn't want to find out the sex of the baby & we have stuck to it.  So far everything has gone great with the pregnancy and I'm coming up on my 23rd week of pregnancy.

Here are a couple of pics starting from top left to the right at 14 weeks to 22 weeks.
Till next time!

Catching up...

Oh my!  I've been gone for what 6 months now?  Well I sincerely apologize.  I've been dying to blog, however, my life got turned upside down the beginning of this year & I have so much to share, where do I start?

I signed up to do a half marathon in February & started to train in "Beast Mode" right away.  On top of training I had to juggle my 4 children (the hubby & 3 boys)...school, piano, t-ball, ice skating & date nights whenever possible!  During my busy life I found out in April I was pregnant with my fourth child!  Yes, now I will have 5 (incl. the hubby)...eeek!  I went to a baby shower in St. Louis in May.  I ran & finished my first half marathon (while 11 weeks pregnant) in June.  Took a family road trip in July & We just celebrated our 8th year wedding anniversary this month.

Pheeeew!  That's it, in a nutshell!  Can't wait to get back to my blog.  It's a great outlet that is definitely needed in my life right now!

Till next time!

A night at the Oscars...

Last night was the Oscars and there were tons of hot celebs on the Red Carpet.  I loved Viola Davis, Emma Stone, Brad & Angelina (even though she looked way too skinny, she still looked beautiful), Cameron Diaz & Michelle Williams.  My favorite (again) was Penelope Cruz.  However, I was not a fan of her dress last year.  I know she had just given birth but I think she could have picked a more flattering dress than what she wore.  This year she redeemed herself & I think she nailed it...she looked timeless, beautiful and her dress was gorgeous.
Penelope Cruz ~ Oscars 2012
I was so excited to see "Hugo" take home 5 Oscars!  I Love that movie, I blogged about it last week.  "Hugo" is right up there with my all time favorite "Life is Beautiful" & I can't wait for it to come out on Blu-ray.

Who was your best or worst dressed at the Oscars?  Did you get a chance to watch any of the films that were nominated?

Till tomorrow...

A night at the movies...

Last night I had a night at the movies with my in-laws and 3 boys (the hubby had to work, boo).  My oldest son (the artist-as I like to call him) had been wanting to see the movie "Hugo" for a long time and so had I.  Since it is the most nominated film (11 nominations) this year in the Oscars my in-laws wanted to see it too.  This was one of the best movies I have seen in a really long time.  It made me laugh and cry and it had me intrigued.

This movie was adapted from a book called "The Invention of Hugo Cabret" & takes place in a train station in Paris around the 1930's.  A young boy is trying to figure out his purpose and meets a friend, together they start on an adventurous journey that "unlocks" a secret and pays homage to the beginning of film making.

In the end we all loved the film and I can't wait for it to come out on Blu-ray, February 28th.  If you haven't seen this movie, it is definitely a MUST SEE!

Till Tuesday!

All you need is LOVE...

I'm not a huge fan of Valentine's Day, but I love "LOVE".

I can't say it any better than "The Beatles" did..."All you need is Love".

Have a Happy Day filled with nothing but LOVE!

Tasty Treats...

Yesterday I was feeling as if I have been neglecting carrots in my juicing.  I've heard people tell me they don't juice carrots, beets, apples, etc. because of the "sugar" in the fruits/veggies.  Yes, they contain sugar, however this is good sugar for you, it's not the refined sugar that you find in processed food.  Carrots also contain great vitamins and nutrients that our bodies need.  For more info on carrots and juicing check out this awesome website:  CarrotJuice.com.

Orange Sunrise

  • 6 Carrots
  • 1/4 Pineapple
  • 1 Green Apple

Wash carrots, pineapple and apple thoroughly.  Cut hard ends off carrots.  Cut skin off pineapple and cut into spears (leaving the middle).  Cut and core the apple.  Place everything in juicer and enjoy!

Tasty Treats...

This past weekend we celebrated Super Bowl Sunday.  Now, I'm not going to lie I pigged out on chips, dip, veggies and FAT KID BROWNIES.  Yes, that's right, I called them "Fat Kid Brownies".  I originally found this recipe on PINTREST and they were called "Slutty Brownies".  However, having 3 little boys I couldn't call them "Slutty Brownies" so I had to rename them.  These brownies are super easy and super fatty but holy hell, they are AMAZING!

  • 1 box of Ghiradelli double chocolate brownie mix
  • 1 16 1/2 oz. of Toll House ready made chocolate chip cookie dough
  • Oreo cookies (16 cookies)
Pre-heat oven to 325 degrees.  Line a 8x8" square baking pan with parchment paper.  Press the chocolate chip cookie dough into the bottom of the prepared baking pan.  Place Oreo cookies on top of the cookie dough.  Mix the brownie mix per the packaging directions and pour over Oreo and cookie dough.  Place in the oven & bake for 40-45 mins.  When done baking let cool, pull brownies out with parchment paper, cut and serve.

(i used chocolate supreme brownie mix the first time but double chocolate chips the 2nd time  & it was way better)

step 1:  press cookie dough down

step 2:  place oreo cookies on top of cookie dough

step 3:  pour brownie mix over & bake

step 4:  let cool

step 5:  Serve and enjoy the gooey yummy deliciousness!
I seriously hope you give these a try they are insane.  Make them for the next pot luck or get together, I guarantee they will be a HIT!

Till next time!

Tasty Treats...

I've been juicing one to two times a day, everyday for a month straight!  I can't stress enough how great and awesome it makes me feel!  Every morning this is my go to juice for breakfast...

Morning Burst Juice

  • 1 Fuji Apple
  • 1 Granny Smith Apple
  • 1 Pear
  • 1 Orange
Core apples, pear and remove skin from orange (leave as much of the white pith as possible-it contains tons of nutrients).  Place each fruit in the juicer and enjoy!

And when the produce is good I like to add either pineapple, kiwi, blueberries or grapes.

Do you remember when you consumed 4 fruits in one sitting?

Weighing in...

When I was on a mission to lose weight for Belize last year I started out at 138 lbs. and dropped down to 133 lbs for the trip.  Well needless to say I had packed on the pounds again.  Yup that's right I went right back to 138 lbs.  My pants were fitting tighter and my shirts were showing off my beer baby but I refused to buy bigger clothes!  Around June 2011 (still at 138lbs.) & decided I was done being flabby and set a weight loss goal of 125 lbs.  I started to walk with one of my friends.  We would walk 5-7 miles every other day and hit the gym on days we didn't walk.  When it came to July/August I had decided to change my eating habits.  That's when I read "Skinny Bitch" by Rory Freedmand and Kim Barnouin.  Wow was it a wake up call to what we are stuffing our faces with.  I was completely disgusted and went strict vegan for about 2 months but kept up being a vegetarian the rest of the time.  I eventually started to run again and was running 8 min. miles and doing 3 miles every morning.  By October I had lost a total of 15 lbs., I was 123 lbs.!  I stopped running around November due to the crazy holiday schedules and started to eat and eat a lot!  I even started to eat meat!!!  Much to my surprise when I stepped on the scale on January 1st I weighed in at 126 lbs., that was only 1 lb. over my goal!  On Jan. 3rd I had decided to start juicing every day.  I quickly dropped those 3 lbs. I had gained over the holidays (that honestly only made me feel bloated) and now I'm back down to 123 lbs.  I am extremely happy with where I am at.  I am wearing size 3 jeans and the only thing I am focused on is getting back into shape.  I am slowly starting to run 3 miles in the morning (not every day yet) and I started to play soccer again (boy does that make me feel old, haha)!  And I still love food!

Christmas 2010 (138 lbs)

Christmas 2011 (123 lbs)
What a difference a year makes!  I have decided to start posting some yummy recipes (healthy ones and every now and then not so healthy ones).  I think its okay to indulge and reward yourself every now and then, just not on an everyday basis.

See you on Wednesday!

Till next time!

Tasty Treats...

Happy Thursday!  Since I have been eating vegetarian I've been trying new recipes.  This is a new one that I have never tried and it was so delicious even one of my best friends loved it!  I make a lot of roasted veggies through out the week that I can use them in different recipes...use as much or as little ingredients depending on the amount of food you are making.  If you have left overs use them the next day!  Here's the how to...

  • about 2 Tablespoons of Extra Virgin Olive Oil or Canola Oil
  • Asparagus (chopped into bite sized pieces)
  • Bell Peppers (Red, Orange, Yellow-chopped)
  • Mushrooms (Baby Portabella-chopped)
  • about 1/2 Cup of Shredded Cheese (use vegan or skimmed mozzarella for healthier versions-or you can top with bread crumbs instead of cheese)
  • about 1 cup of cooked Couscous (cook per packaged directions)
  • Regular Red Bell Peppers (halved length wise with stem, ribs & seeds removed
  • Kosher Salt (to taste)
  • Freshly Ground Pepper (to taste)

Preheat oven to 375 degrees.  On a cookie sheet place chopped asparagus, bell peppers & mushrooms.  Sprinkle with about 1-2 tablespoons of extra virgin olive oil or canola oil, sprinkle with kosher salt and freshly ground pepper.  Toss to coat all veggies.  Spread on cookie sheet evenly and bake for 15-20 mins tossing once half way through.

Once veggies are done, in a bowl, mix with pre cooked couscous.  Spoon your couscous veggie mixture in the red bell peppers that have been halved length wise.  Top with cheese or bread crumbs (both optional), place on cookie sheet or in baking dish & bake in oven at 350 degrees for 15-20 mins.
stuffed peppers with couscous & veggies
It's a pretty versatile recipe that you can add or omit any kind of veggies.  You can even use quinoa instead of couscous.

Till next time!

Guilty Pleasures...

I have a confession to make...I AM A REALITY TV JUNKIE!  It is truly one of my guilty pleasures.  I honestly watch tons of reality TV that I can't even name all the shows that I love.  Now, I'm not one of those crazy people that TiVo every single show, but if its on and I'm home to watch it, I will watch it!  One of my favorite shows right now is on Lifetime called "Dance Moms".
This show is insane!  Abby Lee (the owner of the dance studio that this show takes place in) is PSYCHO! I cannot believe how she talks to some of these little girls.  The mothers are all CRAZY and the daughters are so innocent.  Some of the things that come out of these ladies mouths make me laugh & I can't get enough of it.  Thank you Lifetime for a guilty pleasure that I enjoy every week!

What are your favorite reality TV shows?

Come back on Thursday when I share another "Tasty Treat"!

Till next time :)

Things that make me smile...

As most of you know I am a mother of 3 very active boys.  They are 8, 5 & 3 years old.  I had originally started a private blog of just them that only immediate friends & family were allowed to read but it became hard to keep up with 1 blog let alone 2.  So I decided to post about my kids on this blog.
This past weekend my littlest guy, Luc Cristiano, made me laugh so hard I had to share....
"Mommy, look at me!  Mommy, look at me!"
Hope this was able to make you smile on this Manic Monday!

The truth about being a VEGETARIAN...

One of my goals for 2012 is to be a vegetarian for the entire year and hopefully make the change for the rest of my life.
While I was pregnant with my 3rd son I had developed a hernia and I started to have digestive problems.  My doctor right away wanted to do surgery to fix my hernia but I didn't feel or see the need to have surgery so I laid off meat for a couple of months and guess what I was feeling great again.  But I fell back to my old ways and started to have problems again!  So this time I decided to make the change and educate myself.  I had no clue what a "Vegan" was or what "Vegetarian" really meant.  I bought a book, watched tons of documentaries and googled the poop out of "Vegan vs. Vegetarian".  It was big eye opener as to what we are really eating and putting in our bodies!  Hormones & pesticides YUCK!  Aside from that I was horrified to find out how animals are treated and slaughtered just so humans can gorge themselves with the only protein we have be taught to consume.  So I went Vegan for 2 months straight but the holidays came & being Hispanic & a baked goods LOVER it is pretty darn hard to just say no to Animal Products.  However, those 2 months were a testimony that I can do this &  that animal products are just not right for me and my body.

Therefore, I have devoted myself to not eat meat for the entire year because 1). I feel that an animal should not have to die for me to eat & 2). My digestive system, energy & skin feels awesome when I do not consume any MEAT or milk.

It has been 16 days since I have consumed any meat, milk or eggs.  I use vegan butter instead of regular butter and eat tons of organic fruits and veggies.  This leads me to my next fun chapter of my blog, I have decided to share & post some recipes for you.  I love when people share and I love to share with people, so stay tuned this week for more post on some yummy foods!!!

Things I Adore...

Sucias!  Well as most of you know I Love to shop (most of the time) & I Love things that are simple and make sense.  Granted, I try to be frugal.  I usually buy things when they are on sale or clearance.  But  I do buy things at full price when the price is right or it is absolutely necessary!
One of my most recent purchases were some Toms.  I absolutely ADORE Toms!  They are made with very little  resources and hello, with every pair you buy Toms gives a pair to a child in need!  How awesome is that?  I actually got my first pair of Toms in May for Mothers Day & I got a little crafty with them and this is what I got...
Hand painted "<3 LA" Toms
Not only do I wear my heart on my sleeve but I wear it on my shoes too!  Yes, I painted them with My Dodger Blue!  And I don't only wear them to the games, I throw them on with Jeans and T-Shirts, my favorite things to wear!
Well for Christmas I received a gift that I really didn't need or like so I made an exchange at the store and came home with these two bad boys...
Red Canvas Toms ~ $43.95 at Nordstrom

Black Glitter Toms ~ $53.95 at Nordstorm
I can't wait to get another pair, haha!  I've been wanting to paint another canvas pair but I will have to wait!

So Sucias, do you have Toms?  What do you like most about them?
Till next time Sucias!

A New Year, A New Me!

Happy New Year! I cant believe it's already 2012 & I am making a new start. I know I have neglected this baby for too long, but I have my creative juices flowing & I'm excited to start writing/blogging again!
I wanted to start off my 1st post of 2012 with my new year resolution or what I am going to call them, my new year goals. I honestly NEVER make new year resolutions, I always thought they were stupid. But this year I have a change of heart. And I want to share them with you...

Resolution #1
Be a vegetarian for the whole year

Resolution #2
Maintain my goal weight & exercise 3 times a week

Now that I wrote them down I know I will have a better success rate!

So Sucias, do you have any New Year Resolutions? Have you ever accomplished any of your resolutions in the past?
